LAFAYETTE – Coming off one its most historic victories in school history, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team will return to action on Friday when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference newcomer Georgia State at Earl K. Long Gym.

The match against GSU (5-16, 0-7 Sun Belt) is the Ragin' Cajuns' annual "Dig Pink Night" where all fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of those of have fought the battle with breast cancer, as well as increase awareness of this life-threatening disease.
Louisiana (13-8, 3-4 Sun Belt), which wraps up a three-match homestand, returns to action for the first time after recording a historic five-set victory over No. 29 WKU last Sunday. The victory for the Ragin' Cajuns was their first in the series since 1999 and snapped an overall 38-match win streak against Sun Belt foes by WKU, and a 32-match streak against league opponents in regular-season play.
Four players for the Ragin' Cajuns are averaging two or more kills per set paced by senior Lavinia Tataran (2.72). Tonice White, who needs 16 kills to tie former Ragin' Cajun standout Amie Goodwin (775, 2007-09) for fifth-place in the rally-scoring era, averages 2.29 kills per set for Louisiana followed by Kaylee Nemeth (2.25) and Sara Mossakowski (2.19).
Freshman Chanelle Gardner, who averages 1.88 kills per set, leads the Ragin' Cajuns in hitting percentage (.277) and in blocks (0.98/set). Andrea Hole leads Louisiana, and is ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference, in assists (10.02/set) with Mossakowski (0.33/set) and Taylor Meade (0.32/set) leading the team in service aces.
Defensively, Caitlyn Auxilien leads the Ragin' Cajuns with 4.12 digs per set – the sixth-best mark in the Sun Belt Conference – with Hole (3.03), Tataran (2.58), Mossakowski (2.03) and Meade (2.03) following.
The Ragin' Cajuns enter the match leading the Sun Belt Conference in service aces (1.32/set), third in hitting percentage (.216), opponents hitting percentage (.166) and digs (14.85/set), and are fourth in assists (11.60/set) and kills (12.49/set).
Georgia State is in its first season in the Sun Belt after competing in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Panthers are led offensively by Dede Bohannon, who ranks eighth in the Sun Belt Conference with 2.95 kills per set. She is followed on the offensive end by Eliza Zachary, who averages 2.37 kills per set and paces the team with a .252 hitting percentage.
Natalia Nieto is the top setter for the Panthers, averaging 9.02 assists per set – fourth in the league – while Emily Averback leads the team, and is fourth among SBC individuals, with 4.23 digs per set.
The meeting between the schools will be the first-ever in volleyball and is the first of two in a seven-day span between the teams. Louisiana will visit GSU next week (Oct. 25) in Atlanta in a 6 p.m. CDT contest.
