Cajuns Drop Dual Match to Tulane, 5-2

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The 67^th ranked Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on the road to Tulane on Saturday afternoon at the Goldring Tennis Center.

“I give Tulane credit,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “They came out and took the doubles point, and we were never able to get on track. The positions I thought we would be our strongest turned out to be our downfall today. No excuses, we have to get better tomorrow and fight to win.”

The Green Wave earned the doubles point after wins on courts two and three. The duo of Carlin Murray and Rick DeGroot picked up a 9-8 win at No.1 doubles ending Idan Mark and Joe Young's 10-match win streak.

Tulane carried the momentum over into singles play putting the match away early with wins at No.1, No.4 and No.6.

Seniors Carlin Murray and Yanick Mandl posted the only two points of the match for the Cajuns (13-7). Murray defeated Joe Young 6-4, 7-6 on court two. At No.3 singles, Mandl downed Shaye Wali 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).

UL closes out the regular season tomorrow at 1 p.m. when the Cajuns face Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss.
