Myers Named Co-Sun Belt Player of the Week

LAFAYETTE, La. -- Louisiana's Nerissa Myers and North Texas' Caitlin Grimes were named the Sun Belt Conference Softball co-Players of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Myers was named Co-MVP of the 2012 Ragin' Cajuns Invitational after leading the tournament with 13 hits on her way to a .619 batting average. The junior had the highlight of the weekend with a two-out go ahead three-run blast in the seventh inning against Kentucky, to help the Cajuns a 5-4 victory over the Wildcats. The shortstop recorded nine runs, seven RBI, .952 slugging percentage, .652 on base percentage and was a perfect 4-of-4 in stolen bases.
The 12th ranked Cajuns finished the weekend 5-0 and were named champions of the 2012 Ragin' Cajuns Invitational. UL (17-0) is off to the second best start in school history – 2006 squad began the season 22-0.
Louisiana returns to action on Wednesday as they travel west to face Houston in a double-header starting at 4:00 p.m.
