Cajuns Advance to HEB Tournament of Champions Final

The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team knocked off its second ranked team of the day as the Cajuns defeated No.64 Oklahoma State 4-1 to advance to the HEB Tournament of Champions Finals in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“Yet another great effort form the team today,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “I cant be more proud of Ted Nilsson after he came back from 2-4 down in the final set to win. The guys that had finished really helped him through. This team really has great fight and has worked hard all week long.”
The Cajuns (7-4) will face No.55 New Mexico in the HEB Tournament of Champions final at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.
The match started with singles play, and UL got out to a quick 2-0 lead after Damian Farinola and Jarred Wynan picked up wins at No.5 and No.6 singles.
Rick DeGroot recorded his second win of the tournament at No.1 defeating Rifat Biktyakov in straight sets 7-6, 6-4.
Ted Nilsson closed out the match for the Cajuns at the No.4 position coming back from behind to win 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 over Trevor Hosrtmann.
“Rick DeGroot was very mentally tough today and didn't let anything get in his way. Damian Farinola played well at No.5 again, and both Carlin Murray and Yanick Mandl fought hard in their matches.”
