The Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to host the 27th Annual Louisiana Classics golf tournament starting on Monday, March 5 at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La.

“We are very excited with the caliber of this field,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “We have nine teams inside of the top 60 here, with three of them in the top 30. It's a great opportunity for team. Coming off of a disappointing performance in Mobile I think this is going to be a chance for us to rise back up to the level we were playing at.”

Admission is free to the public with a shotgun start slated for both Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. The Practice Round/College-Am is slated for Noon on Sunday.

The 27th Annual Louisiana Classics Field includes Houston, No. 27 Illinois, Kansas, No, 21 Kent State, No. 25 LSU, No. 43 Memphis, N.C. State, No. 45 SMU, South Alabama, Southeastern La., Southern Miss, Texas State, Tulsa and UTSA.

Seniors Andrew Noto and Philipp Fendt lead the way for the Cajuns. Noto and Fendt have combined for seven top 25 finishes in the 2011-12 season. Fendt finished in the top 5 a year ago at the 26^th Annual Louisiana Classics.

“I am extremely impressed and proud of both of them,” Sliman said. “They have been leaders both on and off the course. They are true team players without a selfish bone in their body, and they are fully invested in our team. Both Andrew and Philipp have played great golf all year long. This will be the fourth appearance in the Louisiana Classics for them which will help the team out tremendously.”

Brandt Garon, Chris Weninger and Kelsey Angelle will also tee off for the Cajuns, while Ethan Savoy, Yohann Vora and Peter Lamaris will play as independents.
