Cajuns in Fourth After Day One at Oak Hills Invitational

Day One Results
The No.50 Ragin' Cajuns golf team finds itself eight strokes back of No. 34 Oklahoma after day one at the Oak Hill Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
"After putting together a great team performance in the morning, I am little disappointed in the way that we finished the day," head coach Theo Sliman said. "Once again we are in a position to win a tournament, and I am very confident that the guys will come out focused and ready to compete tomorrow."
The Cajuns led after the first 18 holes carding a score of 286, but a second round score of 294 dropped UL into fourth place behind No. 32 Baylor and Texas Tech.
Senior Andrew Noto had yet another strong performance setting himself up for a chance to win back-to-back individual tournament titles after posting a two-round score of 139 (-3). The senior carded six birdies including five straight on the back nine in round one overcoming a four stroke deficit to begin the round.
"I can't tell you how impressive of a day Andrew had battling back after a tough first few holes in the morning round." Sliman stated. "He showed that he is not only a very confident golfer, but also that he is a team leader with his performance"
"I felt great after having a good first day here," Noto said. "I knew I just had to give myself opportunity on the back nine after a slow start early. This is the fourth time I've seen this course, and that really helped me out today. I'm not trying to go out and think about winning the tournament championship. I just have to go out there and stick to the process and I will do well."
Brandt Garon and Philipp Fendt currently sit in the top 25 with Garon tied for 19th overall at 145 (+3), while Fendt is in a tie for 25th at 147 (+5).
